Quarantine Journals - A letter to the contractors, therapy vent

It has been a month since you told me this job was finished. A month of driving back and forth multiple times a week to review work only to find more errors. You told me you were done, and the fixtures hadn't even been installed.  Nothing had been cleaned—we couldn't even see the damage through the dirt. There was paint in the wrong finish, damage to my new mirror, a leak under the sink with standing water and water damaged paint in the vanities.  There were chipped tiles and damage to the grout on the floor in both bathrooms, and lines drawn in permanent marker on the floors.  There were multiple cracked and scratched tiles in the shower. The carpet had come loose in the hallway and the study.  The tile on the bathroom shelf had been redone 3 times and the grout was unusually dark.  The shut off valve did not work.  The bathroom door would not close.  The towel bar was falling out of the wall. And there were a slew of careless mistakes made with regards to painting and caulking, some areas which seemed to be missed entirely.

We finally thought this string of punch lists was done and moved our family back into the house, only to discover that the shower was backing up with inches of standing water.  The hot and cold waters were reversed. Another tile in the shower was cracked, several more were scratched.  One of the sink stoppers did not work.  The installation of the handheld prevented it from being adjusted with visible damage to the elbow valve. And not one but both of our bathtubs had been chipped/cracked.

After 3 months of being displaced, we had to pack up our kids and our belongings and moved back out again within days.  I stressed to you the importance of wearing masks during these repairs, only to find out that our agreement had not been honored.  I appreciate your willingness to cover the sanitization cost, but I'm sure you must see why getting us back into our house, nor our health concerns, have seemed like much of a priority throughout this mess.  We've made many lists, countless trips, and lost an lot of time and sanity trying into getting through this.  We even lost an entire freezer full of food despite multiple warnings about the breaker out front. I believe that we have been extremely understanding and patient given the circumstance, but the entire ordeal has been a train wreck.
