Food update / recap

My 3 month long one-food TED of QuinoaFOREVER ended Jan 20th when we started and passed avocado. This changed everything for me. Thank you, avocados! You kept me alive until, two months later, we decided to stop failing indirect trials and start my son on solids. He was almost 10 months.  His first trial was murky waters, much like every trial, and we finally threw in the towel. The second food was a pass, and almost instantly I could see his gut kicking into gear and his poops improving. Trials seemed to be just a little easier to interpret. We chugged through them as quickly as we could, which was really pretty slowly. For the first time ever, his poops had absolutely no mucus. Our previous baseline was nice, but this Baseline was real—undeniable, obvious, and beautiful. Yep. She just called poop beautiful, folks.

The week before his birthday, he had his worst fail yet, complete with vomiting. I was devastated. And grounded.

We rang in 1 year on 6/8 with 3 direct safes and he just passed his 4th. My daughter did not have this many safes until she was 2+. So I celebrate and then I remember that awful reaction and I quiet back down. It's a real rollercoaster, but I'm proud of our progress, optimistic, and grateful to be eating 6 foods instead of 1.

Those early TED days were so hard. I'm quiet and struggling with limited mental bandwidth, but I'm trying to feel human again, trying to get life back near the tracks.
