Quarantine Stories - Grandpa Stories

My dad FaceTimed us today, and penni has been building lots of Lego creations from a new kid that Richard got out. She asked me what one of his favorite things were, and I honestly couldn't think what his favorite animal would be. So when we had them on the screen we went ahead and asked him. He told her that one of his favorite animals is probably a hawk because he had one as a pet when he was younger. This was a story that I definitely have not heard before.

He said when he was younger his uncle was at the Dead Sea and found a hawk that have fallen out of a tree, and he asked my dad if he wanted it. My dad said that he did, much does to the dismay of his family members, and he took the hawk down into the basement and took care of it until it was big enough to let go. I asked him what he would feed it, and he said that he would go dig up a bunch of worms to feed it when it was little. He said when he got it it was so small it fit in his hands, but soon graduated to eating chicken pieces when it was bigger. He said that I got so big that even using a pizza piece of leather, I can can do some damage to his arms, so he finally took it outside and let it go. I asked what his name was, but he didn't think he had one.
