Quarantine Journals - Rainy Days, Turbulence, and Bedtime Convos
Richard took the kids ona drive in the rain this morning. It has rained all day, Perry much nonstop, since 3am. A lot of that was pouring and much of the yards are flooded.
Then he went to work and the kids played dress up for a while. They really wanted to splash in puddles but the rain was too constant and a nap was eminent.
After nap, my dad FaceTimed us. We talked for an hour while Richard fixed dinner. Then we sat down to eat spring rolls and and soup. After dinner, we took the kids out in the rain and they went up and down the alley jumping in puddles. When we got to the street, they raced leaves down the waterway. Penny even did a Facebook live of the leaf races. On the way back, we saw a gigantic worm in the alley. It looked like an earth worm but it was SO BIG that I questioned myself and asked them not to touch it. I feel bad but I just wasn't sure wtf.
When we got home, Penny had a huge meltdown about bedtime. She yelled at me, and I got super frustrated and snapped at her. We talked it out in bed, but it was super tense before that. She also made it clear where her head was at too.
Penny (in bed, after a turbulent evening): Mommy?
Me: Yeah?
Penny: Where was your favorite place to go when we could leave the house?
Me: Hmm.
Penny: Was it a restaurant or a store, maybe?
Me: I think it was the nature parks with you.
Penny: Did you used to like eating at restaurants?
Me: Yes, I did. Not as much when we were dealing with food allergies, though. It was pretty stressful.
Penny: What was your favorite restaurant?
Me: A place called Anamias, probably.
Penny: I don't remember it.
Me: It's been years, since before your brother's allergies.
(Quiet)
Penny: I think I liked parks and restaurants too.
(Quiet)
Penny: I miss seeing my friends.
