Quarantine Journals - Strawberry
Our strawberry has a flower on it. Most of the tomato plants inside have flowers on them. The pepper plants are beginning to bloom. The pickling cucumbers are starting to sprout. Penny's dandelions that she harvested and germinated are also growing, and she's very excited about it.
Richard took the kids on a bike ride this morning for 9 1/2 miles. I got up and ate breakfast and watered some plants, cleaned up the kitchen some. When Richard opened up the back door, I literally experienced a "fight or flight" reaction and started to bolt. I guess even my subconscious knows that I need a little bit of space from my kids sometimes.
Ever since our talk the other day, Penny has been really open to trying new foods, at least a couple of bites. Today, Richard used our fresh dill, cilantro, and parsley to make falafel with sweet potato fries and fresh hummus. Oliver really liked it, Richard and I enjoyed it, and Penny was not a big fan of the falafel but definitely ate quite a bit of sweet potato fries.
Meanwhile, our president is issuing executive orders to keep social media from fact checking his lies, and encouraging the governor of Minnesota to shoot protesters of George Floyd's murder.
I'm feeling very depressed.
