Quarantine Journals - Thanksgiving Parade

Today, Penny's school had a thanksgiving parade where they invited all the families to drive by the school to see the teachers dressed up as turkeys.  Penny wanted to go, so we went.  There weren't many people driving through.  Penny saw her teachers from K and 1st, but her 2nd grade teacher wasn't there.  Her other teachers were so excited to see her, cheering and blowing kisses.  Penny's face just lit up.  I was crying by the time we pulled away.

When we came home, Oliver absolutely fucking lost it.  He was screaming "I DON'T WANT TO GO HOME. DON'T TAKE ME OUT OF THE CAR.  I DON'T LIKE MY HOME.  I DON'T WANT TO BE AT THIS HOUSE."

Devastating.  I know he was exhausted and hungry, but geez hearing him scream these things over and over again all evening just killed me.

Meanwhile half the population is still traveling for Thanksgiving, including Richard's aunt who is having his uncle, his kids and their families, Charles and his wife, and even invited family from Kentucky—the later declined.  She called us cowards, so obviously we are not expected to attend.  I am afraid she is going to get Gilberto killed.

This will be the first year I have spent Thanksgiving without my dad and brother, and I am devastated. Penny is really upset too.

I don't have much else to say other than screw this year and all the selfish idiots that have perpetuated this pandemic.
