Quarantine — Thanksgiving Blues

Penny: Is grandpa coming here for Thanksgiving or are we going there?
Richard: It's just going to be us for Thanksgiving this year.
Penny: But... but.. Thanksgiving is about being with our family and feeling grateful.
Me: I know, baby. But seeing grandpa is complicated with Daddy going into the office now.
Penny: Because we might get him sick?
Me: We might. And it's our job to protect him. So seeing him is going to require some planning.
Penny: (in tears) What do you even mean, "planning"?
Me: Like, we have to have a period of time that Daddy isn't at the office so we can quarantine before we go see him to be sure we are as safe as possible.
Penny: How is the going to happen?
Me: ... I'm not entirely sure. We will figure it out though.

Penny: Daddy? You usually take off time as Christmas. Can we go see Grandpa then?
Richard: I don't know.
Me: We hope so, but we don't know much right now.
