Chronologically, I will just jump in here with the update because it has been a horrific first week of 2021.

Tuesday, during my therapy session I received an email from my web guy, Paul.  He is quitting.  They are putting some kind of tax on him in the UK that makes continuing his business impossible, and he doesn't feel like my project aligns with his long term goals, and so he is basically walking away.  We have been working on this website for 10 freaking months, and it is no where near where it should be for that insane amount of time, not even if you give 50% away for covid.  I am utterly floored that this is basically happening again.  The beginning of the year, and I am shit out of luck on finishing a website that someone started and then half ass worked on for nearly a year.  I contacted Tom, who didn't have much to say. He had a meeting with Paul early this morning, and we had a brief chat tonight, but all to say not much of anything.  He needs to review the site and figure out what's left, and then he said we will talk.  I have no idea if he is going to uphold his end of the contract, or if I am flat on my ass without a website again.  I can tell you this: I cannot shop for another web developer and I cannot sit here for another year pretending like someone is going to prioritize this website.  Which means, if Tom isn't going to take responsibility for the job he accepted, I am going to have to seriously consider closing my doors.

When I read the email, I completely shut down. The next morning, I got mad. I used that energy to create a spreadsheet of all the pages and what has or hasn't been done... there are a lot more X's than there are check marks, that is certain.

Oliver was having a particularly difficult day on Wednesday.  Richard went into the office for the second consecutive day, and Penny started school, which made for a difficult transition to say the least. After much screaming and hitting and hysterics, I swooped him off to bed early for a much needed nap.  But, as always, there was a big fight goin down.  It was horrible and I hated every second of it.  But while he was flipping out, I noticed a post on Facebook saying that "protestors" were swarming the Capitol.  And honestly, I didn't think too much about it.  This is just the weird ass world that we live in, I hear that people are out of control and I'm just like... yep.

But while I was trying to get Oliver to sleep, Richard sent me a message telling me that I should turn on the news.  I told him I was trying to get Oliver to sleep, but I would hit up Twitter.  And I just started scrolling and scrolling this footage of people busting up the windows of the Capitol and rushing inside.  It as mayhem.  All these MAGA hats and Trump flags... confederate flags... people dressed up like Vikings though I am still completely unclear on why.

They were banging down the doors of the Senate, which was in progress to confirm the election for Biden.  The Senators were on the floor, sheltering in place.  Another group started banging down the doors of The House as well.  They managed to get the Senators out of the hall through some back entrance and alternative route, and eventually the rioters took over everything. The entire Capitol.  They were standing at Pence's podium. They were sitting at Nancy's desk. Even stole some of her mail. They were posting selfies and live streaming and clearing that they were going to take back the country.

Richard messaged me that Trump had told them at a nearby rally that they needed to march to the Capitol and that he would come with them.  Of course, he did not.  Footage came out today of him in a tent with his whole family, Don Jr live streaming, while they are blasting music and watching these domestic terrorists break into the Capitol.  

So, I watched this unfold on my ipad while Oliver slept. A woman was bused out, bleeding profusely.  People said they heard shots.  Several more taken in ambulances later.  The Capitol police seemed to be doing a lot of nothing. And the longer this went on, the more videos came out of them talking selfies with the insurgents. There is even a video of them opening the gates and waving them in.  Trump refused to send in the national guard, and so the police all just stood out there together, doing not much of anything.  

Trump sent out a couple of tweets calling these jerks amazing people and saying the election was stolen from him and they were mad.  But be peaceful y'all. 

Finally, the Mayor called in the National Guard from MD and VA, and they put in a curfew for 6PM, several hours later.  The NG did not much of anything. I watched them well through 7:30 just stand there or politely glide a woman down the steps by the hand like a royal.  There was none of the violence and aggression that we've seen with almost every other PEACEFUL protest in the last year.  It was actually nauseating how they were just accommodating everyone out there breaking the law.

Pretty much everyone had made statements asking them to leave, including an appearance by Biden, but nothing from Trump until Biden told him to step up and end this violence.  So Trump made a video telling the insurgents that he loved them and they were special but they needed to go in peace.  Twitter and Facebook almost instantly took down the video and most of his posts, blocked his account. Twitter only blocked him for 12 hours or so, but Facebook has blocked him indefinitely.

Today, Pelosi and others are calling for Pence to enact the 25th amendment. It has been announced that at least 6 people died in the take over of the Capitol.  They arrested 66 yesterday and they have been identifying people from their brag posts and arresting them today.  Pelosi FINALLY said that if they don't use the 25th amendment then she will call for the immediate impeachment of the president. Again.

Trump put out another video late today, when Twitter unlocked his account, saying that the election has been decided and it's not fair but they've exhausted all legal avenues but now it is time for peaceful transfer of power. LOL OKAY how about maybe that should have been the case like at least a MONTH AGO.  Now people are dead.  The entire world is ashamed of what happened yesterday.  It was disgusting and insanity.

Meanwhile, there is a new variation of covid in the UK and the first case of it in Texas was confirmed in Houston.  Only like 40 ICU beds in DFW. There are mobile morgues at the hospital my mom used to work at. Deanna is very sick but has no where to go to get health for her gallbladder or whatever is going on. 

So that's what is going on here in 2021.
