Quarantine Journals - Contractor Update

So, here's what has been happening with the contractor stuff.

They spent a full month and some change ignoring my every attempt to contact them via text, email, facebook etc. I posted in the Coppell group with a brief summary of the situation and asking for advice on how to proceed. They saw the post and immediately contacted me.  They claimed they had sent a certified letter and check for $1000 and assumed I was squared away.  I pointed out that the letter had not been delivered, the check had not been cashed, and I had been actively trying to reach them. I also pointed out that the amount offered was insufficient, and explained why.

They replied asking for an itemized list of charges, along with some other ridiculous loop holes. Someone from the Facebook group contacted me and offered to call and see if they could help me resolve the situation. She turned out to be an attorney.  She tried to reach them to talk, but they refused to take her calls. Meanwhile, for reasons I still do not understand, they contacted my plumber.  The one I used before and after their services were rendered.  THe plumbing company contacted me stating that they had heard there was something wrong with their work and they wanted me to know that they warranty everything and wanted to make it right.  They confirmed that it was someone named "Shane" that called.

Meanwhile, they went into my facebook post and called themselves out.  It was almost 1AM and suddenly the thread has several comments from their friends claiming what great company it was and what an upstanding citizens they were.  A few of those people said I was making it all up.  Dan's wife showed up to say I spreading false claims and inviting people to private message her to talk more.  Shane called the facebook group admin and wanted her to take down the post. The admin was mad that they got her private number.  She refused to take down the post.  She did turn the comments of to stop their advertising.

After days of ignoring the attorney, I replied to their email with my itemized list, which ended up being substantially more than I had initially guessed.  There were also more issues coming up, such as with the frameless glass door.  The attorney then contacted my attorney and accused her of blackmail.

A day or so later, the attorney—who is in Omaha and not even licensed in the state of texas—replied to my email, line by line refusing most of the items on my list, claiming they were all "normal use damage."  They offered me an additional $13.50 and said that I would have to recant my facebook post, sign an NDA, waive all future claims, and agree to never leave a review or make a BBB claim.  The offer expired 12/23.  I did not even bother to respond.

I am, at this point, left with the option of blowing up their social media / reviews / BBB or taking them to small claims court. I spent a lot of time creating a timeline and verifying what documentation I have.  I assume I will end up taking them to court, but it is certainly not what I wanted to do or something I had wanted to deal with.  I am very frustrated and utterly disgusted with how immature and unprofessional they have been through all of this.
