Quarantine Journals - Jail Break III
The weather was lovely today, so we fled the house. I had planned on taking the kids skating with the new skates they didn't know that they had, but Penny decided she wanted to level up her bike in hopes of learning to ride with 2 wheels soon. So we drove around for a bit while the kids ate lunch in the car, and we ended up passing a new school over by Cypress Hills that was vacant. It had a TON of bluebonnets all around it, and we initially pulled over to take pictures when we realized it also had a nice flat parking lot nearby. So after we did bluebonnet pictures, we headed over to the parking lot to let them ride bikes. Penny rode a bigger bike with small training wheels that a friend had passed down to us, and Oliver played around on Penny's old bike. There was an empty playground behind the school in full sun that I kept eyeballing, and I finally suggested we go try it out. No one had been near it it atleast the half hour we had been there, and with the sun on it... I was hoping it was not a big deal. Also, the CDC finally came out this week saying that surface transmission is actually pretty low risk.
The kids started SCREAMING, they were so excited. We spent hours out there between the bikes, the play ground, frisbees in the field, exploring their school garden, and doing obstacle courses. It was really lovely. When we got home, we just went straight into the backyard. The kids played while I cleaned the patio and Richard made a late lunch. Then we all ate outside together. Richard filled up the sandbox and we re-did sunscreen and let the kids play in there too. We were outside from 11AM until 5PM straight. It was lovely. I am, of course, now sunburned despite my best efforts.
After a while,
