Crystal Beach Breakout - Vacation Day 1
I decided a few weeks ago that we had to get out of dodge, and why not do it before the summer vacation rush? I was thinking about a cabin in OK, but then I thought oh why not just have a real vacation at the beach! So, I researched some quiet times for us to go, ended up on this week, and started planning. Amy suggested the house they usually stay at, and the owners seem really nice. We got here on Saturday evening and it has been such a nice stay.
I should mention, we invited my dad, but he chose at the last minute not to come. He had a lot of reasons, but I suspect it was mostly anxiety.
SATURDAY
Saturday we had a nice leisurely drive, stopping at rest stops and nature ares to explore. The kids did well, wore their masks, avoided people etc. Oliver finally got to experience an automatic door for the first time, and he really enjoyed that. (Pandemics make life weird.)
When we got here, Oliver was screaming and running all over the house. He was absolutely tickled to find that they kept kleenexes in their bathrooms, haha. They played on the bunk beds and we used the automatic dumbwaiter to bring all the luggage up. That was good news because my toe is still broken from December, not healing at all. So I can't do too much but that doesn't really matter when you've been under house arrest for two years. I just had to get out of there. We let them stay up late and then they went to sleep together in the bottom bunk and Richard and I slept on the queen bed next to them. I chose this house because I thought we needed the space for my dad, but it is too big for us, that is for sure.
