Grandma Jan

I'm not doing a very good job of keeping up with this, but I wanted to make sure and record the first weekend that we saw grandma Jan since the pandemic has started.

I us remember to actually call and tell her happy birthday because we are pieces of poop. Anyway, she called me back immediately because she had just found the late birthdayI'm not doing a very good job of keeping up with this, but I wanted to make sure and record the first weekend that we saw grandma Jan since the pandemic has started.

I had text her earlier this week to apologize for sending her birthday gift late, and the fact that neither of us remembered to actually call and tell her happy birthday because we are pieces of poop. Anyway, she called me back immediately because she had just found the late birthday gift I guess it had been sitting on her porch for a couple of days. And we got to talking, and I decided just to jump you be willing to wear a mask if we came over to visit?" I explain to her that the kids would be wearing masks, but I would ask her to wear one as well. And she said absolutely! I would stand on my head the entire time jump out there with the question. "Would you be willing to wear a mask if we came over to visit?" I explain to her that the kids would be wearing masks, but I would ask her to wear one as well. And she said absolutely! I would stand on my head the entire time you were here if it meant that I would get to see you guys.

And then we continue to talk and she revealed that she hasn't actually been wearing a mask when she goes out, and even asked me to bring a good one with me so she could wear it. Which was thoughtful, but also very stress inducing.

So I ordered her one of the mask that we've been wearing, but I knew there was probably no way it was gonna get there in time. So I asked Richard to bring home some of the disposable mask that he had at work, and I emailed the mask people and ask them if they could overnight it. They called me back almost instantly, and they overnighted her an extra mask, free of charge.

So we went to her house on the way to my dad's this Saturday. The kids were nervous, but I guess we all were. Oliver was mostly excited, but I could tell Penny was feeling apprehensive. When we got there, she was wearing her mask, although it was quite a bit looser than I had hoped. Seeing it not on her face quite right kind of gave me a bit of an anxiety attack and I disassociated a bit. She gave us a tour of the house, and then the kids went outside to jump on the trampoline, and I tried to keep most of the visit outside, but it was extremely hot. Mosley looks like he was about to keel over, and the kids started begging to go inside.

So we went inside and visited for another 15 minutes or so, and then I just said that I thought it was time for us to get back on the road. Overall, I think the visit went well. I think it did a lot for Richard, and it really seem to mean a lot to Oliver.

Then we drove over to my dads house and spent the weekend there. It was really nice to see him, and we hadn't driven out there in a while because of my foot and Richard's appendix and everything else. But we had a really nice visit.
