Covid Shot

I woke up this morning with massive anxiety.  The party was over, my dad was leaving, both the kids were sad, and all I could think was "now we have to get him vaccinated."

I told Richard I was stressed, and he had already been looking at appt times.  There was no way to do it outside, not with the heat index 120+.  So, I called the pharmacy to see how busy they were, how good the pharmacist was with kiddos, if people were masking etc.  I finally told Richard he could do it  after 3, and he booked the appt for 3:30.

Meanwhile, my brother was calling me that Milo was "dying," just "laying on the ground, couldn't move, screaming." I found him an urgent vet and he shot out the door.

We told Oliver at 3:10 that he was going for the shot, and he started to panic, but I kept telling him that it would be quick, and then we could have a surprise.  How about cake and ice cream?  He was very excited.  I told him that RIchard would even have a lollipop for him.  We were able to keep him calm enough and they headed out the door.  Richard masked them up and went inside, and Oliver did great. He didn't even need the phone, they gave him a coloring book and he was just so in awe of everything.  They got it done in minutes and then waited it out in the parking lot.  He came home proud of himself and we hugged and cheered him on.  He enjoyed his lolly and then picked out his ice cream.

Afterwards, a coincidence of timing, I had setup Penny's new ipad for school and setup her old one for Oliver.  I put them in new cases and put them in their basket charging, so after dinner they got to discover the new devices and they were super excited.  We all played minecraft together and he went off to bed.  He is getting anxious about having to go back for another shot, but all in all, I Could not be more grateful that it wasn't some big thing.   I hope Penny's next trip can be as successful.
