Crystal Beach Breakout - Vacation Day 8

SATURDAY

It was our final day and we couldn't quite decide what we wanted to do, so we let the kids call it. Penny wanted to go fishing in that sweet spot again, so we tried that.  Didn't realize until after the bait guy left that our shrimp had rotted.  We fished with squid but didn't have as much luck.  Penny caught one, Richard caught 2 catfish.  We saw lots of boats and birds, but the kids got bored when there wasn't any action on their lines.

Afterwards, we went to the house to have leftovers, and then decided to get some shrimp to bring home with us, and feed the heads to the seagulls.  Unfortunately, the golf cart wouldn't start, and the North Jetty was full of people.  Richard decided we should take the ferry, but I was not convinced.  Penny was not either, but Oliver got really excited, so we went for it.  The line to get on the ferry was about an hour.  We talked to my dad for half that time on FaceTime.  When we got on the Ferry we got out, with masks, and watched the dolphins.  Some of them were jumping out of the water ahead of some fast ships. We also watched the seagulls flying.  Gavleston was super busy, naturally, on a Saturday.  The kids saw the carnival and got really disappointed that they couldn't ride the rides.  There wasn't really anywhere to stop without people, and I had to pee really bad.  Eventually, we turned around and headed back across the ferry and for home.  We stopped by the ferry and tried to feed the gulls, but apparently they don't evne like shrimp heads.  We donated the rest of our heads and squid to some nearby fishermen.

The kids spent the evening playing downstairs with beanbags and basketballs etc while I showered and packed.  We got to bed late again, but at least had laundry done and clothes packed before we settled in.

The entire trip we had been masking around people and I was really proud of how great the kids did.  I also spent my evenings using this ultrasound bone growth stimulator, but it was frustrating because it never seemed to be in the right spot.
